Water Rights and Water Usage Reflection
I am surprised by the numbers that they gave me. For showering 1 minute = 4 gallons of water, when the average shower (found from this link: http://www.home-water-works.org/indoor-use/showers) uses 17.2 gallons for a 8 minute shower. For the 15 minutes I had entered (which was an overestimation) it seems like it would really only be around 40 gallons, not the 60 stated. And looking at the numbers for 1 bath a week, apparently a bath tub only needs 5 gallons of water. Maybe for washing my dog.... This seems wrong, and could lead to people mistakenly thinking that baths conserve water.
Water Usage Results
We could further reduce water by doing less loads of wash (dishes and clothes), and by taking less showers (?). I've already stuffed each wash load full to the brim, and I try not to let water run when its not being used. And I've always been an avid "If its' yellow let it mellow.." believer.
Actually, none of this is a new topic for me, given I've seen the episode of Arthur where they have a competition on who can reduce their water usage the most. I'm not sure why, but i've always been a fan of that episode. I stopped bushing my teeth with the water on because of it.
